Gelato Mier

​At the first meeting of the year, Marist JCL invited its officers to share some delicious gelato after school! After the treat officers and members orked together to prepare a Hannibal themed banner for Fall Forum

Activites Fair

At Marist's annual activities fair, we promoted Marist JCL and Myth Madness, our certamen-style competition series that prepares middle school students for the Pegasus Mythology Exam later in the year.

Mt Vesuvius

September 29, 2023

One of our most prominent annual JCL events is our Mount Vesuvius Festival! This year, with the theme Barbenheimer,  Barbie, Ken, and Oppenheimer  traveled through time to witness the explosion of Mt. Vesuivus🌋. There were cupcakes🧁....

Latin Honor Society Induction

September 29, 2023

At our annual LHS Induction, Latin III and IV members were sworn into the obviously most prestigous honor society at Marist. There scholars were called upon to lead and to serve the Marist Latin Program by voluntering at the LHS service project Mythoaploosa and its fundraiser the Readathon.

Fall Forum

October 21, 2023

In the middle of October, a few Marist JCLers traveled to Walton High School for Fall Forum. They held a mythology workshop for anyone who was interested in the Medusa Mythology Exam or just wanted to learn more about mythology in general. Before the event Marist JCLers worked hard to put together a Polyphemus themed banner.

OCTOBER

Read-A-Thon

October 23, 2023

On October 23rd MJCL hosted its annual Readathon, which raised money to fund our Mythopaloosa service project in the winter. 📖 From dawn to dusk, Marist JCLers and faculty stood outside, reading the entirety of Homer's Odyssey. This year the Readathon took on a pumkiny theme, as students from throughout the school decorated pumpkins deisplaying ancient myths.

Cocoa and Carols

December 2023

Felicem Natalem Christi! Merry Christmas!🎄JCL and LHS members, Latin students, and passersby sing festive Latin songs while enjoying cups of hot cocoa☕. Top Hits include "Adeste Fidelis" (O Come All Ye Faithful), "Veni, Veni, Emmanuel" (O Come O Come Emmanuel), "O Viri, Este Hilares" (God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen), and many more.

Marist Open House

January 3, 2024

​At Marist's annual open house, Latin students represented JCL and our Latin program to visitors and future students. With a full display of Roman culture (including togas and Latin Christmas hymns), our JCLers won the hearts of all passersby.

JANURARY

Mythopaloosa

January 27, 2023

Marist is hosted its 12th annual Mythopaloosa in January. Mythopaloosa is Marist's biggest event welcoming students from across the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Games, contests, and activities help these stuents prepare for the Pegasus Mythology Exam in March. Groups of students are placed under the care of various Myth Mentors who dress up as Gods and lead the students throughout the day

Latin Liturgy of the Hours

February 24, 2024

Marist's annual Latin service, hosted by Latin Honor Society, will be celebrated in the chapel, featuring hymns, prayers, and more, all in Latin. Stop by to experience how Catholic liturgies were originally celebrated, featuring prayers such as the Pater Noster, the Adoro Te, and Marist's favorite, the Salve Regina.
